F.L.A.M.E. Award Categories
We are celebrating all of these categories this year.
(Yes, you can vote for the same dance in more than one category if the conditions are met)
Beginner Dance of the Year
Each of us has been a beginner at some point, and that's why it's important to highlight these dances that have been the ones that started their dance careers.
The candidate dance must be classified as Beginner level and the dance must have been choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Improver of the Year Dance
Improver level dances fall well between Beginner and Intermediate dances. They are a very essential part of a dancer's development, as they help a beginner dancer move into the highest category, intermediate dances.
The candidate dance must be classified as Improver level and the dance must have been choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Intermediate Dance of the Year
Most line dances and line dancers fall into this category. Since this category is the most popular, the dances that appear in it are usually really good. It is no coincidence that the Dance of the Year in the world is usually from this category.
The candidate dance must be classified as Intermediate level and the dance must have been choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Advanced Dance of the Year
The Advanced class represents the most challenging dances that line dancing has to offer. The choreographies usually require several years of experience or just diligent repetition to master. The dances are usually spectacular and mastering them is an achievement in itself.
The candidate dance must be classified as Advanced and the dance must have been choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Classical Dance of the Year
Dizzy. Islands In The Stream. Country 2 Step. Amame. The dances in this category are classics that draw dancers to the floor year after year. Good dances are popular - the best are popular year after year.
Dances participating in this category must be at least 5 years old. This means that the candidate dance must have been choreographed NO LATER than May 31, 2019. Dances that are more recent than this are not eligible for nomination.
Country Line Dance of the Year
Country music is the most essential music genre in line dancing, and we want to remember this special genre with our own award. The dances in this category were all originally made to Country music.
The difficulty level of the dance does not matter, only that the dance is done to Country music. The nominated dance must have been choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Line Dance of the Year
This category needs no introduction. What is your favorite dance from this year? The level of dance doesn't matter, the music doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is what you are this year Line Dance of the Year. Vote for the dance that has made your socks spin the most over the past year. The winning dance will be taught at the FLAME gala.
The dance must be choreographed after June 1, 2023.
Line Dance Choreographer of the Year
Dance choreography is the heart and soul of line dancing, and dance choreographers are the people who feed that heart. This category celebrates all the choreographers who take the time to make our line dancing enjoyable year after year, and who allow us to dance to our favorite songs.
Finnish Line Dance of the Year
When we look abroad for the hot new international line dance hit, we often forget that we have equally good choreographies at home. This category celebrates Finnishness at its best by rewarding the Finnish line dance of the year.
The dance must be choreographed after May 30, 2023, and the dance sheet must be submitted to either Copperknob, Linedancer Magazine, or Everything Line Dance, where the choreography date of the dance can be confirmed.
The winner will be able to teach their dance at the Fall In Line event on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
FLAME Scientist of the Year 2024
Some of us have our finger on the pulse of line dancing better than others. These people are called Knowers.
FLAME Guesser is a fun competition to see who can guess the winners the best. As with a regular vote, you choose one of your favorites from each category, fill in your name below, and vote.
